Recently, Google held the AI for Learning forum in London, where it announced new commitments in the field of artificial intelligence and education. The company is allocating $30 million to support educational projects and is sharing the results of new research demonstrating the positive impact of AI on the learning process.

The main goal of these initiatives is to integrate advanced AI technologies, such as Gemini for Education and LearnLM, into educational processes worldwide. Google is actively collaborating with governments, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to make AI tools accessible to students and teachers. A prime example is the partnership with Estonia as part of the national AI Leap program, which will involve over 20,000 participants.

Google is paying special attention to supporting organizations that make AI education universally accessible. Among the first recipients of funding are three innovative projects, each with enormous potential and deserving of a separate detailed review.

Raspberry Pi Foundation: Programming for Everyone in the Age of AI

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a well-known British charitable organization that aims to empower young people worldwide to realize their full potential through computer technology. They create affordable single-board computers and develop free educational resources. In the context of Google's new investments, the Raspberry Pi Foundation will lead global projects that will help shape approaches to teaching programming in the age of artificial intelligence. Their work is extremely important as it helps young people not just to consume technology, but also to use it creatively, developing critical thinking. This project has excellent potential for democratizing technical education and preparing a new generation of innovators.

Fab AI: Researching the Impact of AI on Learning

Fab AI is a non-profit organization focused on using advanced technologies to help students in low- and middle-income countries. Their mission is not to replace human interaction in education, but to "supercharge" it with AI. With funding from Google, Fab AI will conduct international research to measure the impact of artificial intelligence on student learning outcomes. This is extremely important work, as it will allow for an understanding of the real effectiveness of AI tools and the development of best practices for their implementation. The potential of this project lies in creating an evidence base for global educational policy in the field of AI.

Playlab AI: AI Literacy for Every Teacher and Student

Playlab AI is a non-profit platform that allows educators and educational organizations to create their own tools based on generative AI. Their goal is to make the process of creating with AI as simple and exciting as Scratch. With Google's support, Playlab AI will build a scalable system to increase AI literacy and ensure equitable access to AI in K-12 education. They plan to collaborate with other non-profit organizations to train teachers and implement AI programs. This project has huge potential, as it provides teachers not just with ready-made solutions, but with the opportunity to become creators of educational technologies adapted to the needs of their students.
