Prep Your Data for AI — Now in the Power BI Service!
Great news for the Power BI community! Microsoft has announced a long-awaited update: you can now prepare your data for artificial intelligence directly in the Power BI Service. Previously, this functionality was only available in Power BI Desktop, but now you can prepare your semantic models for Copilot without switching between tools.
This update significantly simplifies the data preparation process and unlocks new possibilities, particularly for Direct Lake models and large import models.
Key capabilities now available in Power BI Service:
Configure AI Data Schema: Define which data will be available to Copilot to receive more accurate and relevant answers.
Create Verified Answers: Set up pre-defined answers to common questions using specific visualizations from your reports.
Add AI Instructions: Provide custom instructions to guide Copilot's behavior and adapt it to your data specifics.
Main benefits of the update:
Benefit | Description |
Less friction | Configure AI data preparation in the same environment where you manage reports and share access to them. |
Copilot readiness | All your data models can be ready to interact with artificial intelligence without additional effort. |
New usage scenarios | You can now prepare Direct Lake models and large import models for AI. |
How to get started?
1.In Power BI Service, select the semantic model you want to prepare.
2.On the ribbon, click the "Prep data for AI" button.
3.Configure the necessary parameters and apply changes.
After preparation, don't forget to mark your model as "Prepped for AI" in settings so Copilot can work with it without restrictions.
Try the new capabilities today and unlock the full potential of artificial intelligence for analyzing your data!
